The MPhil MIS Research Seminar is designed to prepare graduate students for advanced scholarship in Management Information Systems by exposing them to the philosophical, theoretical, and methodological traditions of the field. The course emphasizes the unique socio-technical and organizational character of MIS research, distinguishing it from generic information technology research methods.
Students will engage with classic MIS readings and contemporary debates that have shaped the discipline—from the Technology Acceptance Model and interpretive case studies, to design science research, digital transformation, and critical perspectives on ethics, power, and sustainability. Through interactive activities, workshops, and article critiques, students will develop skills in problem formulation, theory application, literature synthesis, research design, data analysis, and dissemination.
